End of Season Extravaganza - Let's Party Like It's 1975! |

Right, it's sorted. The venue is booked, the format has been decided, award nominations are being collected and it even has a Facebook group - the end of season do is good to go! This year however, the club have decided on a Seventies theme to the evening, which will be reflected in just about every activity and provision on the night.
Firstly, guests (each paying a highly reasonable £3 on the door for entry) will be encouraged to don appropriate 70's style attire for the evening, or perhaps just some token gesture for those allergic to fancy dress (wig, sunglasses, stick-on sideburns etc). Once inside, the revellers will be met with an array of suitably approriate buffet food, which they will be invited to graze upon whilst enjoying the sounds of disco, provided as always by the magnificent Pete Rea.
As has become the club tradition, the highlight/lowlight of the night will be the annual Stars in Their Eyes-esque singing competition, which this year is of course firmly rooted in the seventies. Acts are under strict instructions to 'make an effort', so no turning up at the last moment and deciding to whine along to Queen whilst dressed in jeans and a t-shirt. As the famous saying goes, "No Flares, No Song".
Other festivities include a fabulous reworking of a classic 70's gameshow, with some fabulous prizes to be won by a few lucky audience members. And, of course, the end of season awards ceremony, where the great and the good (not to mention the mediocre and the crap) will be recognised for their efforts on the field of play this season.
Why not jog your memory of previous nights by reliving them again thanks to the wonders of t'internet? Click the following links to reminisce about the 2006 night at the Turks Head, and the 2007 affair at the Lindum.
So there it is. Friday night, 2nd May, upstairs at the Turks Head, hopefully another in a long line of memorable club nights. The club invites everyone to come along and enjoy the celebrations, suitably attired in fancy dress (or not, if they're boring), and help us have another great night out.

The '9 Spartans of the Cowpaddle' Go Down Fighting |
The Tower's heaviest defeat of recent times may well have been caused by the club being let down by many players who failed to turn up, but those who did put up one hell of a fight, writing themselves permanently into club folklore. Read the full synopsis of the game in the match report by clicking here. Last week's delayed report on the Waddington game is also available to view now, by clicking here. And, while you're at it, why not check out the club Photo Gallery? Or even the Club Records page (now with hat-trick table and clean sheet-ometer!). Or perhaps while away ten minutes studying the league table, trying to figure out where those crucial points were lost?

Welton Win 4-1 but Outlook Good for Resurgent Tower |
Despite crashing to a 4-1 defeat away at Welton, the Tower performed well against a quality side and showed good fighting spirit to keep creating chances. Other results over the past two weekends, including today's 3-1 win for Victory against Traveller's Rest, means that a win for the Tower on Sunday against Waddington will all but ensure them safety in the Premiership for this season. Click here to view the match report for the Welton game, and make sure you take time to analyse the permutations and combinations of this season by viewing the league table here.

Another Defeat but A Spirited Fightback Keeps Hopes High |
Metheringham proved just too tricky a side to defeat as the Tower fell to another league defeat, but a good second half performance showed that they still have the desire within the team to push on and end the season on a mini high. Click here to view the match report.

Cup Run Over For Another Year With Defeat At Divison Two Manor Utd |
Oh it just keeps getting worse! The morning was so bright, sunny, spring-like and promising, though the Tower's football was totally the opposite. A 4-2 defeat to Divison Two side Manor United consigned the Tower's season to a mid-table Premiership battle, with no longer any chance of cup glory. You can read the full details of the morning by viewing the match report - click here.

Disappointing Defeat for Tower as Greenbank Curse Continues |
In a long awaited return to league action, the Tower suffered another humiliating defeat to Premiership strugglers Greenbank, this time on home soil. The defeat caused the Tower to slip a place in the league table, a worrying fact given the amount of games in hand many of the teams below them have. You can read the new and (possibly) improved match report by clicking here. Oh and for all those Greenbank players tempted to leave their comments at the bottom of the report - don't be too scathing!

IMPORTANT NEWS Regarding Club's Next Game |
Before our next game (the Ron Eaglen cup clash with Jerusalem at home) we are going to be taking the long-overdue squad photo for the season. This will (finally) replace the one at the top of the website to ensure all new players are represented. It is also a valuable keepsake for when your grandchildren don't beleive you played for such an illustrious club as the mighty Tower. Can EVERYONE make sure they come to the game nice and early to be in the photo, irrespective of inury, hangover or alien abduction. After the game we'll all be staying in the Tower for a while for a good few drinks, so it will certainly be worthwhile. SECONDLY (and most importantly), can everyone who is coming to the Christmas dinner confirm their attendance by choosing their meal (click here) and also BRING THEIR £15 TO THE GAME ON SUNDAY. Currently we seem to be over-subscribed for the room, so the sooner you get your money in to confirm your place the better, as once we're full, we're full. Oh and the match report will be on here tomorrow (hopefully). I need an assistant... |
